A serene, mystical, high altitude lake situated amidst pine forests with the backdrop of DarwaBugyal, a high altitude meadow! The lake gets its name from the temple of ‘Dodi’ meaning Ganesha. The lake is abounding with trout fish that in local language are also called Dodi! The trek starts from a rustic village near Uttarkashi. Dodital is a 5-6 days’ trek from here through pine forests, Bugyals (high altitude meadows) and deep river valleys.

  1. Day 1 Arrival in Dehradun; Drive to Uttarkashi (169 km; 5-6 hrs.)

    Arrive at Jolly Grant Airport (Dehradun), and proceed further to the U t t a r k a s h i . O v e r n i g h t  a t  t h e h o t e l

  2. Day 2 Drive to Agoda(21km) Trek to Manzi 2900m/9515ft;12km 6-7 hrs)

    After breakfast, we start walking towards Manzi via Behwra village. We are walking throught lush
    green forest. Overnight at the camping.

  3. Day 3 Trek to Dodital Lake (3352m/11,000ft; 8km, 4-5 hrs)

    After breakfast we start trek to towaerds . Enroute will cross Majhi; has few Shephard hut and it offeres very beautiful view of Darwa top. After lunch enroute continue trek to Dodital (3310m), it will take apperoximately 4-5 hrs. to reach Dodital. Dodital is a beautiful lake surrounded by Pine, Deodar, Oak Forest. Lake is full of Himalayan Golden trout. Overnight at the campsite

     

  4. Day 4 Trek from Dodi Taal to Darwa Top (4150m / 13,615ft) Return to Dodi Taal, (6-7 hrs)

    Day starts early in the morning, trek to Darwa top. The trail starts alongside the stream flowing into the lake. We cross the stream several times till the valley widens and we stick to the true right valley to the pass. The path is through meadows & rhododendrons. The final climb to Darwa Pass is short and steep. The views of Banderpuch and further north-west the
    Swargarohini range from the pass are fantastic.

     

  5. Day 5 Trek from Dodi Taal to Satgardi (2340m/7677mtr, 5-6 hrs).

    Trek down from Dodi Tal to Satgarhi via Manjhi. Satgarhi campsite shares its boundary with Asi Ganga River. Overnight at the campsite.

  6. Day 6 Trek from Satgardi to Gujjar Hut, (3400m/11,154ft. 5-6 hrs)

    Tough day! Today we will have early breakfast and start ascending forest trail. It is a gradual climb with ascent of (1100mtr) and reach Gujjar hut. Open ground with with few shepherds’ huts around. Overnight at the campsite.

  7. Day 7 Gujjar Hut to Dayara Bugyal Jungal Camp, (3200m/10,498ft); Crossing via Bakra Top (3900m/ 12,795ft; 6-7 hrs)

    Today bit relaxing day as first 3km is ascend and later we go down to Dayara jungle camp traversing Dayara meadows, enroute will climb small hillock (3900m/12,795ft). Overnight at the campsite.

  8. Day 8 Jungle Camp to Barsu Village (2120m/6955ft;4 - 5 hrs). Drive to Uttarkashi (43km, 1-2 hrs).

    After breakfast, we meet our whole camping team and have quick thanks giving conversation and take care of the tipping part. Today, we walk downhill to Barsu village, where our vehicle is waiting for us, from there we drive to Uttarkashi. Overnight at the hotel.

  9. Day 09 Final Departure. (166km, 6-7 hrs)

    Post breakfast, drive back to Dehradun airport.

  • In Uttarkashi: Hotel on twin sharing basis
  • On the trek: Organized camping trek, with small camping tents on twin sharing basis, with foam matters pillow
    and sleeping, sleeping bag will be provided on request. Single tent can be made available on request at
    nominal additional cost. Includes all meals breakfast, lunch, high tea and dinner. All meals will be vegetarian
    and eggs will be served for breakfast.

Air: Dehradun is the closest airport in Uttarakhand. Scheduled flights operate to and fro from Delhi.

Land Travel (Within Uttarakhand):

The long mountainous journey is very scenic but roads are winding and can be bumpy sometimes. The area is prone to landslides. However, the journey is usually safe.

This trek involves walking for 5-6 hours daily at an easy pace and is recommended for people with a good level of physical fitness. We do not recommend this tour to people with chronic problems like epilepsy and those related to blood pressure or heart or diabetes.

  • It’s mandatory that all the participants carry a valid photo id., (Driving License, Voter Id., Passport or Adhar Card) for issuance of permits and 02 passport size photographs.
  • For accompanying children above 12 yrs (who do not have a Passport or Adhar Card), it’s mandatory to carry the School Id. Card/College Id. Card along with 02 passport size photographs.

If the client wishes to hire a porter so that he can walk along with him, then an extra porter can be arranged on the spot for which the client must make an extra payment. The cost for an extra porter will be INR 800/- per day.

 

Day temperatures average between 15ºC – 20ºC and night temperatures can drop to below 05ºC. However the temperatures would vary a lot depending on the season and altitude.

This trek is a high altitude trek and the maximum height gain will be approx. 4680m. Acute mountain sickness (AMS) can be caused due to high altitudes. The AMS may be avoided by taking precautions given in the document attached on high altitudes, please read the document carefully. The high altitude can cause Acute Mountain Sickness and may lead to serious critical medical conditions such as cerebral or pulmonary edema.

The weather can change dramatically causing rain, thunder storm, flash floods, cloud burst, snow fall and severe drop in temperatures, causing severe physical hardships.

Sleeping bag and Feather jackets can be hired on written request in advance atleast 10 days prior to date of reporting. The same will be provided on arrival at reporting hotel. Rentals for Sleeping Bag & Feather Jacket is INR 100/- per day each plus INR 100/- each for laundry.
