The Sunderbans forest lies in the delta formed by the confluence of Bramhaputra, Padma and Meghna rivers across southern Bangladesh and southern West Bengal. A UNESCO World Heritage site, it is home to the largest population of tigers in the world. It is also the largest single block of tidal mangrove forest in the world. The Sunderbans is intersected by a complex network of tidal waterways, mudflats and small islands of salt-tolerant mangrove forests. The dominant mangrove species Heritiera fomes is locally known as Sundari. The Sunderbans provides a unique ecosystem and a rich wildlife habitat.  Tigers, Fishing Cats, Macaques, Wild Boars, Common Grey Mongooses, Foxes, Jungle Cats, Pangolins and Chital are found in abundance in the Sunderbans.

  1. Day 1 Arrival in Kolkata; Kolkata – Gadkhali Jetty (120 km; 3 hrs); Boat ride to Sunderbans (2 hrs)

    Pick up from Kolkata Airport and transfer to Gadkhali jetty through beautiful countryside and rural bazaar.  Arrive at Gadkhali. Transfer of luggage and persons to motorized boat. Briefing and interpretation by the local guide cum naturalist over Tea/Coffee/Welcome drink followed by 2 hours’ spectacular cruise through river Bidya, Durgaduani and Gumdi. Optional stopover at Gosaba – one of the earliest human settlements of Sunderbans, to visit the house of Sir Daniel Hamilton, a Scottish banker who introduced agriculture and initiated the first co-operative movement of India here. Arrive at Bali Island and check in into Sunderbans Tora Resort. Evening you might enjoy the infotainment by the local villagers. Dinner and overnight stay at the Camp.

  2. Day 2 Sunderbans

    Post breakfast, full day game cruise and birding tour to Sudhanyakhali watchtower and a canopy walk at Dobanki. Lunch will be served on board. Return to Camp by sundown. Dinner and overnight stay at Camp, Bali Island.

  3. Day 3 Sunderbans – Kolkata; Final Departure

    Post Breakfast, a guided village walk in which participants are encouraged to have a close interaction with the local villagers and their livelihood, local craft and cuisines, indigenous farming and household equipments used by the villagers. Guided adventures cruise by manually oared country boat. Back to camp. Lunch and proceed to Gadkhali. Arrive at Gadkhali and transfer to Kolkata Airport by car.
