  1. Day 1 (21 Feb) Arrival in Reykjavik

    Upon arrival at Keflavik airport transfer by Flybus shuttle bus to your accommodation in Reykjavik. You may explore Iceland’s capital city on your own if time allows.

  2. Day 2 (22 Feb) Reykjavik City Tour & Borgarfjordur Saga Valley

    Post breakfast, meet our tour guide at 09:00 am. He will guide you around highlights of the exciting Iceland’s capital! Later, head to the west and stop in Borgarnes Settlement Center to learn about Iceland’s earliest days. Next, we head to Borgarfjörður, known as the Saga Valley for its many important historical events. Get a chance to climb the Grábrók volcano crater and visit Deildartunguhver. Then we visit Europe’s most powerful hot springs. Hraunfossar which is a series of waterfalls pouring from beneath a wide lava field. Barnafoss – the Children’s Falls.

    The afternoon includes a lecture about Northern Lights. After dinner, step into the hotel garden in search of the Northern Lights followed by a hot cup of chocolate or tea.

  3. Day 3 (23 Feb) Snæfellsnes Peninsula & Lava Cave

    Post breakfast, explore the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, ”the peninsula of the snowy mountain”, it juts out from Iceland’s west coast, like a long arm with a clenched fist at its tip! Visit the fishing village of Grundarfjörður, a place with an impressive coastline and mountains, lakes and waterfalls. One of the most photographed and famous mountains in Iceland, Kirkjufell, can be seen jutting out into the bay.

    Visit Arnarstapi and Hellnar before experiencing the area from below, inside Vatnshellir cave. We take you 35 meters underground and about 200 meters into the lava tube under the glacier Snaefellsjökull! On the way back to Borgarnes the guide gives you some practical tips on how to photograph the Auroras as part of the Northern Lights Academy program. Naturally, once darkness falls, we are out in the hotel garden to chase the Northern Lights and soak in the hotel’s outdoor hot tubs.

  4. Day 4 (24 Feb) Golden Circle, Geothermal Taste & Icelandic Horse

    Today we will be travelling along the Hvalfjörður fjord. The first stop is Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Travel the Golden Circle route, and see steam rising from the Geysir geothermal fields. The chef of the Restaurant Geysir invites you to taste freshly baked hot spring bread served with Icelandic butter, boiled eggs and herring. On we travel to the double waterfall of Gullfoss.

    In the afternoon, learn about the Icelandic horse, its unique qualities and history and visit a geothermal greenhouse, before reaching the accommodation in South Iceland. Tonight, step into the darkness and search for the elusive Northern Lights in the peace and stillness of rural Iceland.

  5. Day 5 (25 Feb) Natural Wonders of South Iceland & Eyjafjallajökull Volcano

    We travel along the South coast. At the Lava & Volcano Exhibition Center, learn about geology and active
    volcanoes. Further east we visit one of Iceland’s finest folk museums. This museum contains an outstanding
    collection of farms and domestic artefacts from Iceland’s past and several turf-built houses. Nearby is
    Skógafoss waterfall which is 60 meters high and one of the most impressive waterfalls in the country.

    In the afternoon take a stroll on the black lava beach and along bird cliffs at Reynisfjara in South Iceland. We spend two nights near Kirkjubæjarklaustur in the Vatnajökull National Park region, located in darkness and ideal for Northern Lights search.

  6. Day 6 (26 Feb) Vatnajökull National Park & Glacier including Glacial Lagoon and Diamond Beach

    Post breakfast, today’s program is all about glaciers, ice and icebergs. We travel to Jökulsárlón, a glacial
    lagoon filled with floating icebergs, and we explore the amazing site and might see seals swimming in arctic
    waters. You can walk on the black sandy beach, the so-called Diamond Beach, where large icebergs get
    stranded.

    In the afternoon we visit the tiny turf church at Hof and spend time at Europe’s largest national park, which
    has Iceland’s highest mountains, an alpine environment, and Europe’s largest glacier. In the evening enjoy a
    film presentation about the Northern Lights as part of the Northern Lights Academy program. Be careful not
    to go to bed too soon in this remote and quiet location, or you may miss out on one more chance to see the
    Northern Lights shimmering and dancing across the night sky.

  7. Day 7 (27 Feb) South Shore & Blue Lagoon

    After breakfast, from Kirkjubæjarklaustur we head across the Eldhraun lava field to the village of Vík, where we make a photo stop. The black lava beach with high bird cliffs and pounding waves is awe-inspiring. Further west we reach the high but narrow Seljalandsfoss waterfall which plunges from the mountain. In the afternoon we get to soak in the famous Blue Lagoon. We reach Reykjavík around dinner time for one last night.

    Note: In the event that the Blue Lagoon is inoperative, we will be replacing it with Sky Lagoon.

  8. Day 8 (28 Feb) Final Departure from Reykjavik

    Post breakfast transfer by Flybus shuttle bus from your accommodation in Reykjavik to Keflavik International Airport.

BLUE LAGOON – DURATION IS APPROX 4 HOURS

  • The Blue Lagoon is one of Iceland’s most famous tourist attractions and considered by many to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, as well as an unmissable part of any visit to Iceland. Surrounded by a mossy lava field, it offers incredible scenery, state-of-the-art facilities, a unique atmosphere, and silica masks and water that make your skin extra firm, yet incredibly soft! For these reasons and many more, visitors from all over the world visit the Blue Lagoon daily, and many return here again and again.

GOLDEN CIRCLE & GLACIER SNOWMOBILING – DURATION IS APPROX 10 HOURS

  1. Explore Thingvellir National Park, known for its exceptional beauty and historical importance. It’s the site of the ancient Viking parliament and where you can visibly see where two tectonic plates meet. Gullfoss is Iceland’s most beloved waterfall, and Geysir is one of the world’s most powerful spouting hot springs, after which all other geysers are named. There’s a reason they call this circuit the Golden Circle.After visiting Iceland’s most popular destinations, head up to the Icelandic highlands for an exhilarating snowmobile ride on Langjökull, Iceland’s second-largest glacier. Zooming across this ice desert on a powerful snowmobile is an experience like no other and a feast for the senses.

THE LAVA TUNNEL & WHALE WATCHING – DURATION IS APPROX 7 HOURS

  1. Explore the natural phenomenon of Raufarhólshellir lava tunnels in an easy and enjoyable manner. The 1360-meter (4500 ft) tunnel was formed during the Leitahraun eruption about 5200 years ago and is a unique Icelandic natural attraction. A guide will lead you through Raufarhólshellir’s colorful landscape, where the formation of the tunnel is highlighted with beautiful lighting. Every winter, spectacular ice sculptures form inside the entrance of the cave, making the experience even more breathtaking. The roughest part of the lava is easily accessible with footbridges and paths, allowing you to explore the cave comfortably. Equipment such as helmets and lights are provided at the location, but it is highly recommended that guests wear warm overalls and shoes with ankle support once inside.The adventure continues with a Whale Watching tour with Special Tours Wildlife Adventures at the Old Harbor in downtown Reykjavík. Experience the wild behavior of whales in Faxaflói bay while looking for these phenomenal species, including minke whales, harbor porpoises, humpback whales, and white-beaked dolphins. The tour includes a guide who will provide interesting and useful information regarding the whales. Sit back, grab a hot chocolate or coffee, and enjoy these phenomenal creatures in warm overalls provided on board. (Whale watching tour takes approx. 3-3.5 hours).Your tour ends in the Old Harbor, a short walk from a variety of shops and restaurants in the city Centre. A transfer back to your hotel can be purchased for an additional cost.

    Lunch can be bought between tours down at the Reykjavík Harbor, with a multiple selection of restaurants. Please note that you may be short on time between tours, so keep in mind that sandwiches and snacks can also be bought on board the whale-watching ship.
