May – September
This is a tour that combines the best of Leh and is an ideal tour for families. We aim to leave behind the hustle and bustle of Leh and go to some unexplored areas not on the usual tourist map. Our Ladakh sortie takes us to the tiny hamlets of Themisgam, and Lamayuru on the outskirts of Leh. Getting a glimpse of the Ladakhi culture, enjoying the local cuisine, we experience Ladakh at its best. We also take in the sights of Leh – visiting monasteries, cross over Khardung La the world’s highest motorable pass, to visit Nubra Valley and then head to Pangong Tso the high altitude salt water lake. Not to be missed is an exciting day trek and a rafting run down the Zanskar.

The museum at the Stok Palace has an intriguing collection of Buddhist art, weapons, jewellery and artefacts, including thangkas painted with colours derived from crushed precious stones. Also on display are the ceremonial head dresses or ’peraks’ of the erstwhile rulers of Ladakh. These head-dresses are decorated with turquoise, lapis lazuli and coral and gold, making them an exotic sight.
We then visit Leh Palace, Hall of Fame and head to Shanti Stupa which is a Buddhist white domed stupa on a hilltop in Changspa. We enjoy the panoramic view of the city at sunset.
