On this tour you will take your bike to discover the essential highlights of the Baltic region: the three marvelous capitals – Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn that are definitely “must see” sights of the Baltics, and its most spectacular natural parks – the Curonian Lagoon, the best sea-side resorts Palanga and Jurmala, and Lahemaa National Park.

Cycle along white sand beaches, sparkling lakes, high dunes, pine forests, ancient cities, and medieval castles to have the “real taste” of one of the least travelled parts of Europe.

  1. Day 1 Arrival in Vilnius (D)

    Arrival in Vilnius. Transfer to hotel.

    Many tourists after visiting Vilnius and its region tend to fall in love with the city. Vilnius Old Town is one of the biggest in Eastern Europe, there more than 1500 buildings which remained from various centuries: city boasts the most wonderful architectural styles of Southern and Western Europe, Gothic and Renaissance, as well as the original “Lithuanian” Baroque, also called the last vivid flash of Baroque in Europe.

    Welcome dinner. Overnight in Vilnius.

  2. Day 2 Transfer to Semeliskes; Cycle to Trakai (30 km Cycling); Transfer back to Vilnius; Vilnius – 3 hr Walking Tour (B, L)

    Breakfast at the hotel.

    We are transfered by bus to the small village of Semeliskes. From here start cycling through undulating terrain to Galve Lake. Here the magical and famous Trakai Castle sits as if floating on its own island in the middle of the lake – it’s a truly magical place. We will explore the surrounding areas of the lake, Uzutrakis Manor and visit the Castle. Lunch at the local Karaites restaurant. Transfer back to Vilnius. Refresh in hotel.

    Afternoon walking City Tour, where you can feel the atmosphere of the city’s history of the 16 – 19th centuries while walking along its narrow winding streets or visiting the most exciting architectural and historic monuments: Vilnius Cathedral erected on the historic site where pagan gods were worshiped and where Vilnius was founded as far back as the 13th century, a nearby Gediminas Castle on the hill rising above the city centre, a gem of the Lithuanian Gothic’s – the 16th century St. Anne’s Church, the Vilnius University, a famous centre of science and enlightenment since its very foundation in 1579, Vilnius Town Hall, Jewish Quarter and the Dawn Gate with a miraculous icon of Virgin Mary. Entrance to the tower of St. John.

  3. Day 3 Vilnius – Klaipeda (308 km; 3½ hrs); Cycle to Nida via Smiltyne - Juodkrante - Pervalka (Cycling 50 km) – Klaipeda (B, L)

    Breakfast at the hotel.

    Transfer to Klaipeda (308 km, approx. 3h 30 min).

    Lunch in local restaurant. Check in to the hotel. Transfer to the Curonian Spit N.P. by ferry (5 km, 40 min).

    We cycle to Nida, known as the town of retreat, and an artist’s resort. From here we explore the 68 km long Curonian Spit. The high dunes (up to 60m) running along the spit have encouraged the local people to refer to the area as the ’Lithuanian Sahara’. During our ride we will make a stop in Juodkrante and admire the bizarre wooden carvings on what is known as Witch Hill. The sculpture park was started in 1979 and now has more than 70 wooden carvings representing characters of Lithuanian folktale and legend. We will then continue along the spit with the Baltic Sea extending far into the distance.

    Free time for dinner.

    Transfer to ferry port, from here we take the ferry across the lagoon to Klaipeda.

  4. Day 4 Klaipeda – Palanga – Sventoji (Cycling 50 km); Transfer to Riga (272 km; 4½ hrs) (B, L)

    Breakfast at the hotel.

    We begin our ride to Palanga and Sventoji on a beautiful cycle route, which lies along the Baltic Coast. On the way we pass Palanga, a traditional bucket and spade seaside town with a long stretch of sandy beach. It’s a really fun place to stop, have a wander around, a dip in the sea, and see one of the most favored seaside towns among Lithuanians. We will visit the Palanga Botanical Gardens and manor house which is now home to the amber museum. There are numerous cafes to sit and enjoy the atmosphere and have some lunch before we set off again for Riga. Transfer to Riga (272 km, 4.5 hrs). Evening arrival to Riga.

  5. Day 5 Riga – Jurmala – Riga (cycling 50 km) (B, L)

    Morning starts with ride to the beautiful town of Jurmala, which is famous for its incredible wooden buildings and 19th Century Russian villas. Jurmala is also one of Latvia’s largest seaside resorts – it has a 33 km stretch of white sandy beach for us to explore on our bikes. There will be plenty of time to have a swim in the sea before we transfer back to Riga.

    Evening Riga Walking City Tour. The tour includes the most significant sights of Riga and begins along the central boulevards of Riga, enjoying the view of the City Canal parks, the Art Nouveau buildings of the beginning of the 20th century, the Opera House. In Old Riga you will see the Dome Cathedral, the Church of St. Peter, the old Guild Houses, the Swedish Gate, the architectural ensemble Three Brothers, St. Jacob’s Church, the Parliament House, Old Riga Castle, and view the many wonderfully restored buildings, now housing cozy restaurants, cafes, bars and souvenir shops. Overnight in Riga.

  6. Day 6 Riga Transfer from Riga – Laahema National Park (359 km; 5 hrs 30 min); Cycling 50 km in Laahema N.P. (B, L)

    Transfer from Riga to Laahema National park (359 km, 5.5 h). Lunch en route. Cycle in Laahema National park. The park, one of the last unspoilt regions of the Baltic Coast, extends over 700 square kilometers. Its nature is rich and unique. Here you will cycle through thick woods, marshes and lakes. Above all, the coastline is what makes this area unique. It is also a rich environment for wildlife, moose and wild boar more difficult to spot but over 220 species of bird populate this area. Overnight stay in Laahema National Park.

  7. Day 7 Tallinn (B, L)

    Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Tallinn (47 km, 50 min)

    Morning: Walking City Tour of medieval Tallinn (2 h.), to feel the aura of the 14th and 15th centuries that survived intact in a maze of medieval walls and towers, soaring church spires and winding streets. It includes the main historical and architectural monuments as Toompea Palace and Castle, Town Hall Square, the Russian Orthodox Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and a visit of Tallinn Dome Church. Lunch at restaurant in Old town. Free time.

  8. Day 8 Tallinn – Final Departure (B)

    Breakfast at the hotel.

    Transfer to airport. Final Departure.

Karlkhoff 8 gear hybrid bikes – as some routes are on the beach and woods. Also when there are many groups at the same time we use Merida Crossway 20 – 24 gears, V-brakes, with bike racks and mudguards, new tires – Schwalbe Marathon Plus.

The bicycle frame for males and females are different. Bikes are assigned according to customer heights and specific needs. For example some of our female customers ask for male frame as they feel better with it.

We provide bikes, water, panniers. Helmets are very personal thing – so we ask customers to bring their own.

We provide e-bikes if customer’s request, in the calculation we will make it as a supplement that you can choose. Also please inform us in advance if e-bike is needed.

Day 08: Tallinn – Walking City Tour; Transfer to St. Petersburg (369 km; 6 hrs) (B, L)

Day 09: St. Petersburg (B, L)

Panoramic city tour of St. Petersburg, also called as “Northern Venice” (4 hrs), to see the famous Nevsky Prospect, the main street of the City, the Kazan Cathedral, the Admiralty with its gilded top, the largest Church in St. Petersburg – the Blood Church.

 

Visit St. Isaac’s Cathedral: the largest Church in Russia and one of the finest architectural works built by the architect A. Montferrand and capable of accommodating about 10,000 people.

 

Lunch in the local restaurant.

 

Afternoon visit to the Hermitage (3 hrs); one of the largest and most important art museums in the world. Its art collections include more than 3,000,000 masterpieces and represent the development of world culture and art from the Stone Age to the 20th Century.

 

Free evening in St. Petersburg.

Overnight in St. Petersburg.

 

Day 10: St. Petersburg (B, L, D)

Breakfast at the hotel.

 

Excursion to Peterhof; the former summer residence of Russian Tsars, near St. Petersburg (29 km from St. Petersburg). The “Russian Versailles” is known for its elegant gardens, magnificent Castles and numerous fountains and cascades.

Lunch in the local restaurant.

 

Excursion continues to Tsarskoye Selo (Pushkin) and visit the Catherine Palace with the legendary Amber Room. Tsarskoye Selo is Rastrelli’s masterpiece and one of the best examples of Russian baroque, which include Peterhof with the finest residences Tsar of Russia.

 

Farewell dinner with folk show.

Overnight stay in St. Petersburg.
